Principal’s Letter January/February 2009
CENTURY HIGH SCHOOL
From Gail S. Rose
It feels as if the year is moving along at a rapid rate. Our school staff hopes you had a happy and safe holiday season. We are now in the process of working toward the end of the first semester. Many of our students passed the high school exit exam (CAHSEE) that was taken in November. However, there were a significant number of students who came close to passing but did not. The next test dates of February 3 and 4th are the LAST chance for students in 12th grade to take the test this school year and still graduate in June. Passing CAHSEE is a school focus for students and we hope you encourage their progress. We are enrolling all students who have not passed CAHSEE in support classes and will be addressing writing and/or math in every class.
So, let’s talk about checking for progress at this time, we need you to:
1. Make sure you know whether your student has passed or not passed the CAHSEE.
2. If they have not passed please make contact with the student advisor to make sure your student is getting the most academic support possible.
3. Please check the number of credits your student has achieved this past semester.
4. Good attendance, plenty of rest and homework completion will help every student achieve his or her goals of a diploma and a career that will be healthy and happy.
